OZZY OSBOURNE: 'This Last Year Has Been Hell For Me'

Ozzy Osbourne made his first public appearance since announcing his Parkinson's disease diagnosis at last night's Grammy Awards. Speaking to CBS's "Grammy Red Carpet Live" pre-show with his daughter Kelly by his side, the BLACK SABBATH singer admitted that the past year has been a difficult one since he was diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disorder last February.

"This last year has been hell for me," he said. "I've had surgery on my neck. I've announced to the world that I've got Parkinson's. It's been one rock 'n' roll year for me.”

The 71-year-old rocker, who walked with a cane, added that he hopes to resume touring soon.

"If I'm well enough, I'll work towards it," he said. "I'm having physical therapy every day, five days a week. I'm trying, doing the best I can. Neck surgery's not easy."

Kelly said that she is proud of her father's progress.

"Seeing how far Dad's come this year and how far he's come in the last week alone has just been incredible," she said. "I think coming out and telling his truth has been a weight lifted off of his shoulders. And even like his physical therapist is saying how far you have moved forward in this last week is insane."

Last week, Ozzy's wife Sharon explained to "Good Morning America" that Ozzy has "PRKN 2, which is a form of Parkinson's. There's so many different types of Parkinson's. It's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. It's like you have a good day, a good day and then a really bad day."

Sharon said that Ozzy will head to Switzerland in April to see a professor who specializes in helping people with their immune systems, in order to distinguish between her husband's symptoms. Sharon remarked: "We're going to go wherever we can go to seek answers," to which Ozzy added: "We're lucky enough to be able to afford to do that."

Ozzy is scheduled to return to North American arenas for another leg of his "No More Tours 2" tour this spring, while his first new solo album in 10 years, "Ordinary Man", is due for release on February 21.
